This BLOG was a new experience for me. I covered some great topics on inequality and I learned A lot about many other topics. It was cool to see the different takes on all the topics and how we all had very different deliveries of the same issues. I can say I learned and researched some interesting issues and would not change what I learned for the world.

Throughout history, gender discrimination and inequality continues to be an issue that is not always on everybody's mind. Gender inequality is the unequal treatment or views of people based on weather they are male or female. It occurs from differences in socially built gender roles and also biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal differences. Similar to Gender inequality Gender discrimination is based on a person's biological sex, which more often affects girls and women. Because of gender discrimination, girls and women do not have the same opportunities as boys and men for education, meaningful careers, political influence, and economic advancement. Women have historically been viewed as inferior to men in many aspects and this paper will point out a few of the issues of this forgotten problem.

In the past women were viewed as inferior, but modern society has made it clear, women have the ability to perform with equal skill and success in virtually every endeavor engaged in by men including employment, athletics, academics and politics. Yet discrimination on the basis of sex has a long history in the United States, and its residual effects still operate to keep women salaries lower and opportunities fewer in the employment realm.

More than anything else, race can limit one's opportunities. America is still overwhelmingly run by whites, and their perceptions of others are often based on race, religion, sex, wealth, appearance, and personality. If you don't meet the white person's internalized standards of "acceptability", you don't get the job, the apartment, the bargain, the education, and a variety of other opportunities that could have helped you achieve the American dream. Just like in A House Divided when they had cameras on and one African American and one Caucasian Man went to see an apartment on different days in the same week he had two apartments available for the white man but for the black man no availability at all. We as a society need to change race discrimination because if we don't who knows what we are setting ourselves up for.

The poverty rate is the ratio of the number of people whose income falls below the poverty line. they also can  place poverty in certain classifications like child poverty ages 0-17, working age poverty ages 18-65, and elderly poverty ages 66 years old or more. poverty in america is a very hard subject because most Americans feel that they are middle class. Most Americans won't admit they don't have food to eat or they can't pay their bills. They want to put up a front that they are part of the middle class, and are average citizens.

I was a little taken back by the game and how many things come up in real life that we have to handle. I guess when we are handling a budget in real life we just don't think about it. We just see it as what we need to do to survive. while I was playing the game it was pretty crazy how aware I was of my budget and losing my job and little things of that nature. the game was so realistic it's scary.

What is the difference between the poor and the rich?

Much of the poor live from paycheck to paycheck (monthly or bi-weekly). trying to make it until the next paycheck. While the rich have extra money set aside to invest in multiple money making schemes not even really feeling the sting of the fail.because they are safe inside their widely expanding safety net allowed due to life's circumstances of classes based on being born into lifestyles higher than most were born into and may never truly appreciate it nearly as much as those born without appreciate each waking moment giving without half the rich take for granted daily and give twice as freely because they also know, appreciate, and accept the struggles faced by other as well as their own trails and tribulations.

                                  My Results

Based on your household income and the number of people in your household, YOU are in the UPPER income tier, along with 25% of adults in NEW JERSEY.
Among all American adults with your education, age, race or ethnicity, and marital status, 21% are LOWER income, 60% are MIDDLE
income and 20% are UPPER income.

when I actually looked at my results I was surprised my house hold was in the upper income tier. I never would have thought that's what it would be because, I feel we still are just making it by from pay check to pay check. I feel like everyone that was born in USA does not see America as most of the immigrants that come to the United States. They are looking for that American Dream and for the people who were born  here we know that it does not exist.

                         ANNA"S  BIO

I'm looking to began a career in Industrial /organizational Psychology in the next two years. I'm a very excited about what the future holds for me in my field. I will be graduating Kean University in 2018. I'm ready to start my career and work form the bottom up to get to my dream position in the company. I would love to work in the corprate office of large retail company in the New York City or in Northern New Jersey.
The facts are plain as day, more women attend and graduate college and have a graduate degrees then men, but we still are not compensated financially. we as women have all the qualifications and still get paid less or the same exact pay as men that did not graduate college or graduated with the same degree. I feel we need to fix this because as a woman in the United States of America the land of opportunity is not truly the land of opportunity if we do not have equal pay and rights.

Women have struggled for equal rights since the beginning of time.Even though there have been many successes in getting justice for the female gender there is still room to grow. you may not realize that a long journey with many bumps in the road must be taken before women are empowered in every area of life. Many people do not realize that woman's rights issues still exist in all countries. These rights can be anything from receiving lower salaries for the same amount of work to horrific social injustices for women.

Our class position and identity can change during our lifetimes as our income, wealth, and occupational status change. But our class of origin usually shapes us most deeply. Because there is no exact dividing line between classes. so that just made me feel like a upper class pet would start their day like a working class person.
